When Your Pet Might Need to Visit an Urgent Care Vet

When your pet is suffering from an illness or injury that requires immediate attention, it's important to seek out the care of an urgent care vet. An urgent care veterinarian specializes in providing medical attention for animals with acute needs. This type of specialized care can make all the difference in the quality of care your pet receives, and it can give you peace of mind when faced with a potentially life-threatening situation.

Common reasons to visit an urgent care vet include: injuries due to accidents or falls; sudden onset of symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, lameness, and/or loss of appetite; ingested foreign objects; allergic reactions; broken bones; excessive bleeding; respiratory distress; seizures; and/or wounds that need attention right away. If your pet experiences any of these signs or symptoms, it's best to take them to an urgent care vet as soon as possible.

In the event of a severe injury or illness, taking your pet directly to the nearest animal hospital or emergency vet may be necessary. This will provide them with access to advanced diagnostic tools and equipment not available at most general veterinary practice offices - unlike Companion Veterinary & Urgent Care Center, who is offers both 24 hour emergency vet services and urgent care vet services.

In addition, not many urgent care vets are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week for emergencies, but with us, you don't have to worry about wasting time trying to find one that's open late at night or on weekends.

It's important to remember that when facing a need for emergency vet services with your pet, every second counts. Seeking immediate help from a qualified and experienced specialist can mean all the difference in the outcome for your furry friend.

Urgent care vet services provide prompt medical attention to pets in need of non-emergency treatments while emergency vet services provide immediate medical attention to pets with life-threatening injuries or conditions, luckily our veterinary center does both.

Urgent care vets are typically available during standard business hours and are staffed by veterinarians, often accompanied by veterinary technicians or assistants. They address issues such as minor cuts, broken bones, abdominal pain, eye infections, vomiting and diarrhea, sore throats, urinary tract infections, and skin allergies. These types of visits are usually handled on a walk-in basis and aren't typically injuries or illnesses that are as severe as what warrants emergency vet services.

Emergency vet services offer around-the-clock medical attention for pets in critical condition stemming from serious illnesses or traumatic accidents. Emergency vets usually function as a team composed of experienced veterinarians, nurses, and support staff who can handle a wide range of medical emergencies ranging from poisoning to heart attacks. Emergency vet visits tend to be significantly more severe in services needed than urgent care vet visits.

While both urgent care vet services and emergency vet services provide necessary medical attention to animals in need, they typically differ greatly in terms of their availability and cost structure as well as the type of treatments provided - but Companion Veterinary & Urgent Care Center is here for you, no matter your needs, regardless of how late into the night or how routine the vet services might be.
